W HOTEL: ARAPIDO MICROCEMENT
We recently had the privilege of contributing to the W Hotel at Sydney’s Darling Harbour with our Arapido microcement floor finish.
This project showcases the craftsmanship and expertise of our team at Concrete Floor Sydney.

The Project
Detailed breakdown of how we brought the vision to life:

- Raising the floor height: The level of the original floor was required to be brought up by 50mm to the desired finished floor height.
To achieved this, we applied a 50mm modified screed to ensure the substrate was level and durable, ready for the subsequent layers.

- Epoxy binder application: Next, we used a high-performance epoxy product to bind the screed.
This provides the key and added durability to the foundation for the following processes.

- Sgraffino base coat: Before we could apply the Arapido finish, we applied a base coat of our Sgraffino product.
This ensures a smooth and even surface for Arapido’s seamless finish.

- Arapido: The highlight of the project is the Arapido microcement overlay. This finish gives us the seamless polished concrete floor that was specified for the W Hotel lobby.
By using an integral colouring system, we can customise the colour of each floor to the clients needs.
In the case of this project, we used a Wales charcoal 5 to achieve the desired result.

- Polyurethane top coat sealer: To seal and protect the Arapido finish, 2 coasts of polyurethane sealer was used.
This gives us the durability and ease of maintenance required for an entry lobby whilst enhancing the appearance of the finished floor.
